Coffee in the United States is served by three kinds of places: national chains with drive-thrus and mobile ordering, independent neighborhood cafes that double as a workspace or a meeting spot, and specialty shops that roast their own beans or buy single-origin lots and brew them by pour-over, espresso or cold brew. Most open between 6 and 7 a.m. on weekdays, slightly later on weekends, and the busiest hour is the commute rush before 9. A drip coffee runs a few dollars, espresso drinks and specialty pours more, and tipping a dollar or a percentage on the card reader is customary but not required. Nearly every cafe offers free Wi-Fi, though some limit laptop seating at peak times or on weekends, and outlets are often the scarce resource.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 7 am–6 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (415) 742-4255. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, hardwarecoffee.co.
On Google it holds a rating of 4.4 out of 5 from 100 reviews, which is a strong result for a cafe in San Francisco and suggests consistent service.
San Francisco is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and San Francisco follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Finally made it. Great location. Love the comfy and casual vibe. 2 levels, bench and chair seating. They sell branded merch and sell flowers. Friendly staff and efficient service. Love the no frills drink menu. Overall, a solid spot to catch up and enjoy the caffeine.

I saw this place online and the interior was amazing so I knew I had to check it out! I got the latte and I mean it was 7$ but nowadays that’s average for a cup, I asked if it to be sweetened and they charged an extra dollar, so when I got the latte expectations were high—all I’ll say is: not bad. Had the tomato and pesto pastry it was also alright. What really did it for me though is their unadvertised “90 minute limit”. At first I noticed it at the cashier after one of the managers, or someone who acted with authority shooed me away to the cashier for the WiFi password which honestly she could’ve told me: it was far from complex…, following that there was a small sign near the cashier “90 minute laptop use limit” weird? So if I don’t use my laptop, are you saying I can stay? A bit unwelcoming but ok. After I sat down, one of the staff members hurried over to where I was sitting and kicked out at least 4 people who were quietly doing their work. I honestly understand wanting to keep the crowd moving to have seating for more customers, but this is not the way to do it. After seeing the 4 people getting kicked out, the experience was honestly ruined for me. It didn’t help that the

I like their cappuccino. Atmosphere here is really nice. I know a lot of folks are coming to it. It's great for work and for meetings. They also have a flower shop inside, and they do different workshops. The flower shop has a great taste here too, so I'm glad this coffee shop has been open. We want more of these.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ What makes this place special isn’t just the coffee, it’s the entire experience. The upstairs balcony seating is hands down my favorite feature. I honestly can’t think of another coffee shop in SF that offers a space like this. You can sit above the crowds and people-watch while still feeling tucked away in your own peaceful corner. The drip coffee is excellent. The oat latte is also great. Their pastry selection isn’t huge, but everything feels thoughtfully chosen and high quality. I’m a huge fan of the ribbon-shaped croissants. On my most recent visit, I tried the raspberry jam croissant and it was delicious. The ham and cheese croissant is another favorite, and they also offer classic options like almond, chocolate, and butter croissants. I also recently discovered they serve more substantial menu items, including avocado toast, which I’m excited to try on a future visit. A few other things I appreciate: the warm lighting, friendly service, two spacious gender-neutral restrooms, and the beautiful flower shop upstairs. Every detail seems intentional and adds to the overall charm of the space. One bonus that’s worth mentioning: parking is surprisingly easy. While ther
